How bacteria adapt to their ever-changing environments and what are the molecular mechanisms orchestrating adaptation remain fundamental questions. To
tackle these issues, my group has developed two main research lines. We are interested in functions and evolution of toxin-antitoxin (TA) systems. These
systems are widespread and important for persistence. Persister cells are tolerant to antibiotics, they are clinically relevant since they account for chronic
infections. Our second line of research focuses on global regulation of gene expression. We are particularly interested in a post-transcriptional regulator
controlling central carbon metabolism and biofilm formation. Single-cell microscopy and flow cytometry analyses are developed in the lab.
